18-20 February 2023 (Family Day Weekend)
Minimum $7000 Guaranteed Prize Fund
Location: Airport Executive Hotel, 7311 Westminster Hwy, Richmond, BC (10 minute walk from Brighouse sky train station)
6 Rounds: Sat 12 noon and 5pm, Sunday 10am and 3pm, Monday 10am and 3pm
Time Control: Game/90 + 30 sec increment
Sections: Premier, U1800, U1400 and U1000
Rating: Premier Section (FIDE and CFC), other sections CFC
Prizes:
Premier: 1st $1,000 and Oszvald Cup, 2nd $600, 3rd $400, U2000 $300/200. Top BC player qualifies for 2023 BC Closed
U1800: 1st $700, 2nd $400, U1600 $300/200
U1400: 1st $600, 2nd $300, U1200 $300/200
U1000: 1st $500, 2nd $300, 3rd $200
Top Woman not winning another prize: $200 (one prize, winner can be from any section)
Top Unrated Player: $300 (one prize, winner can be from any section). Unrated players are also eligible for U1800, U1400 and U1000 prizes but not U1600 or U1200. May only win one prize.
Prizes will be distributed by electronic transfer or mail within 48 hrs
Entry Fee: $80 on or before Jan 17th, $95 on or before noon on Feb 16th. $20 to play up a section if rating is within 100 points, $40 if within 200 points. Unrated players may play in U1400 Section without extra fee, recommended for players with online ratings above 1300. $20 discount for 2nd or higher player from same family. $10 discount for unrated players playing in their first tournament. Free entry for GM/IM/WGM/WIM if entered by Jan 17th
No onsite registration
Accommodation: Airport Executive Hotel: 604-278-5555. $179 single/double. Includes free parking and free airport transfer. Book early, only 10 rooms available. Mention BC Open Chess Championship.
Other Important Details:
- Parking $8/day or $22/3 days. Purchase parking at entrance to tournament room
- CFC membership required. $38/year adult BC resident, $25 junior under age 20 or tournament membership (good only for one tournament $16 adult $8 junior. Available when registering or directly from the CFC
