Thanks everyone for joining us for this event! Standings above are provisional until rated by the CFC.

The tournament will be submitted for rating and trophies will be mailed out after a 2 week period for fair play review.

Where:  Zoom will be used for announcements only.  TD will e-mail all players with detailed instructions after registration closes.

Round 1 - 11 am

Round 2 - 1:30 pm

Round 3 - 4 pm 


Sunday 15 Aug

Round 4 - 11 am

Round 5 - 1:30 pm

Round 6 - 4 pm
Time Control: Game/30 min + 15 sec increment
Sections:  Premier, U1600 and U1200.  Play-up allowed if CFC, FIDE, USCF, or FQE rating is at least 1400 for Premier and 1000 for U1600 section.  Extra fee $20.   

Rating: CFC Quick rated.  
Prizes: 1st place trophy for each section.  One trophy and two one-hour chess lessons from a FIDE Master for top unrated player, can be from any section.  Tie-break for trophies: direct encounter, uncorrected buchholz (sum of opponents’ scores), average rating of opponents
Entry Fee: $20.  Funds raised will be donated to a charity chosen by the Scoones family.  Full refund for players who notify withdrawal by 11 am Friday 13 Aug.
Registration:    Online  Registration will close at 12 noon Pacific Daylight Time on Thursday 12 Aug.  Maximum number of players will be 110.

CFC membership required.  BC residents annual fee adult $38, junior (under 20 yrs.) $25.  Available from the CFC, or purchase with registration.  
Alternatively, purchase a tournament membership $8 adult $4 junior with registration (good for this event only).
Players in this event are eligible for the COVID-19 rating bonus of up to 200 regular rating points (play at least 10 Quick rated games between
April 1st 2020 and October 1st 2021 and achieve a Quick rating 200 points higher than your Regular rating to get the 200 point Regular rating bonus).
Fair Play:
Games are subject to monitoring by anti-cheating software.
Players must abide by fair play rules.  That means no assistance from any source including chess engines, databases, books, notes,
other players, analysis on chess boards etc.  Fair play rulings by are FINAL.
Be careful when making moves not to have a "mouse-slip" deposit a piece on the wrong square.  There is no way to take back an erroneous move.
It is possible to experience a temporary loss of internet connectivity on your computer.  This is generally your responsibility but if it persists inform
the TD.
