Back to Tournament Info...

Hello Everyone!

I'm looking forward to a great event this weekend in the first ever online BC Active Championship. Your participation helped raise $900 for the BCCF!

You MUST read and follow these instructions carefully. Failure to do so could result in your removal from the tournament!

  1. Verify your username is correct on the player list: http://bcopenchess.pbworks.com/w/page/140988096/BC%20Active%202020-%20Pairings%20and%20Results
If it is not you must immediately email brendan.woodroff+td@gmail.com with your correct username.

  2. CAREFULLY read the pairing instructions here: http://bcopenchess.pbworks.com/w/page/140374038/BCSenior-StepByStep
If you do not follow these instructions exactly you will not be available to be paired on the live chess server. We do not have the time or resources to hunt you down, you will receive a forfeit and be removed from the tournament if you do not show for your first round match.

  3. Round times are posted in Pacific Daylight Time (UTC-7). The 1st round starts at 12:00pm Pacific / 3:00pm Eastern

  4. Be online at least 10 MINUTES before the start of each round

  5. Due to the number of players it may take UP TO 5 MINUTES for your match to start
You are being paired by me, manually, and I can only pair 10-12 boards per minute.

You, the player, are responsible for your connection and being on the right website at the start of your round. You are encouraged to thoroughly re-read these instructions and ask questions if necessary. There is a maximum of 10 minute allowance for late arrivals before you are forfeit as a no-show. If you arrive late your clock will be negatively adjusted.
You are responsible for your computer and internet connection. We are not able to help you troubleshoot or repair your equipment.

Q&A

Q: What do I do if my game hasn't started?

A: If you are on the chesscom live server (https://www.chess.com/live) and your game hasn't started within 5 minutes, odds are your opponent is late. If you still do not have a match and have been waiting more than 5 minutes you can email me at brendan.woodroff+td@gmail.com. I will do my best to reply as quickly as possible to let you know the status of your opponent.

Q: Can I take a bye?

A: Half point byes are available for the first 7 rounds and must be requested before the end of the previous round. 0 point byes are available for the final round.

Q: What if I need to withdraw?

A: You must email me as soon as possible. If you do not email me to withdraw you will be paired and receive a loss for your unattended game.

Q: What if I mouse slip?

A: Chess is a touch move game both in real life and on the internet. Making the correct move is your responsibility and no exceptions will be made for 'mouse slips'

Q: What if I think someone is cheating?

A: Games will be reviewed by the fair play team for any signs of assistance. If you suspect an opponent is not playing fair please email me and we will ensure a thorough review is completed. Fair play violations can be met with the closure of your account or sanctions issued by the CFC.

Good Luck Everyone!
